I was hoping I wouldn't have to explain this, but as some people are new, I'm going to anyway so we don't have any conflict.
Godmodding (or god modeling) is when two players are in an IC fight and one player starts making their character use insane, outrageous traits and actions to "win" the fight. In example:
Ukulele lunged forward, snapping his jaws down around the stallion's neck viciously. He then threw him in midair before he could react, and threw him back down where he stamped a hole into his opponent's neck. Ukulele tossed the dead stallion in the river, throwing a huge boulder over top of him so he couldn't get up and he drowned.
But that isn't the only way people try to slide by with it. They can use "mystical powers," or they can even godmod when just casually playing their characters.
Exhibit A
The mare flew up into the air and laughed, healing instantly. "You can't kill me!" she cried, throwing daggers of ice down at you that turn into bears as they come on contact and kill you. "I am immortal! Stupid weakling! HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
Exhibit B
Jennifer smiled gently, waiting for your reply. When you say, "I'd love to," she squeals with joy and you will smile. She went home with you and told you she wanted a foal from you. You said yes."
The only thing I have to say about this is DON'T DO IT.
Not only is it annoying, but it's useless to the other person because they can't even get a reply in if you're doing all the playing yourself.
Powerplaying can be just like Exhibit B, but it's usually during a fight. The character fighting with yours will a) not get hurt, b) control your own actions before you've said them, c) dodge every hit and kick given, and d) say in their post that you have done nothing to fight back, therefore rendering you the weak one.
The stallion reared, and you can't dodge him so he kicks you, you scream in defeat but he keeps on kicking you and you don't do anything so he kills you as you lay in agony on the ground and he stomps dust all over you as you choke.
A fair fight is when
- Powerplaying is not involved
- Godmodding is not involved
- Posts that are completely relevant are posted; not off topic and answering the original post
- Both players are respectful of one another. A role play fight is a role play fight. Neither players should be hurt or angry at the other when the winner of the fight is revealed. If you DON'T like the person your character is fighting with in the first place, hold your tongue and maybe your character can get out some of your frustrations.
So please, if you see anyone godmodding/powerplaying/having an unfair fight/having a fight in general, let me or one of the other moderators know.
