Hello! Erm, it's time to account for where I was and where I'll be for the next while. I went to a renaissance festival today. I meant to go tomorrow, but my cool grandma invited us to lunch that day. (Best. Indian. Food. Evaaar. *¬*) Immediately after that I have to drive waaay out into the boonies so I can check into my summer-job camp. I'll be away all week doing lifeguard training. I've got a two-hour break each day, but... that's it ; and there's only one computer for all of us. So I doubt I'll be able to check in. Whenever I get out on Friday, I get to drive waaay out of the boonies and into downtown for an anime convention. I'll be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday as long as I can humanly manage. Sunday I have to drive waaay out to the boonies to check back into camp for general training... And then things'll be pretty regular: leave Sunday morning, get back next Friday night, here on Saturdays. (Presuming my folks don't intervene. .x.) There's a slight jag in the schedule around the fourth - I get like half a week off and then no break between two weeks - but I'm not looking at my calendar. =/ I ought to be back around August 1st~3rd. After that? Who knows...

Checking in at first weekend off. I'm still alive! Dang, it's hot down there! The campers start coming in tomorrow, so wish me luck! Through some miracle (namely, just deciding to go down to the barn and help scoop poop, and then keeping THE contrary horse moving during the staff ride, even though I've only been on a horse once in fourth grade) I got assigned to the barn unit for the first week! Go, me! *incredulousyay*

FORTY CAMPERS. Third to sixth grade. Three of us. Not all potty trained. Not all deodorant-trained. Our camp was a mile and a half away from the dining hall. Had to get there and back three times a day. Nine miles a day total. With forty whiny, out of shape children. The horses threw shit fits all week. I mediated three kick-fights. Two I was riding one of the combatants, one I was standing in between them. One horse freaked out, tried to pull herself out of her bridle-tied-to-the-fence-post, reared, and dived straight into the mounting block. The same one bucked one of my little three-foot-tall campers straight off. One horse had to be led everywhere because he was psychotic about people using a bridle. The horse I rode at the staff ride had to be led everywhere, too, cos she wouldn't listen to the kiddies. We had the health inspector come (and god forbid w/ a 40:3 ratio we were thinking about housekeeping). The director fell. One girl faked a seizure. Yes, FAKED. She'd been to camp with an epileptic child and seen three of their seizures, and decided to copy them when she wanted to get moved to her sister's unit. Our poor machete-wielding, college-wrestling nurse has a cult following. Every time she walks in to hand out medicine the kids start banging the tables and chanting her name. I swear I'm going to bring a dark suit and shades to camp next week, so I can be her bodyguard. All in all, it met my expectations for chaotic. The director said, that of all the hellish weeks they'd had in the past, this one took the cake.Either there's a lot going on that I still don't know about, or the rest of the summer is going to be a walk in the park. *pleased with how handled self and everybody/thing else*
